SPA POOL STEPS/ EXTERNAL TIMBER STAIRS

These steps were super exciting to work on as we got to show off our carpentry skills and our attention to detail. The challenges were that the steps were to be stained so everything would be seen and had to be perfectly neat and tidy. To do this we made a jig up for our router, this would ensure that the checkouts on the stringer were super accurate and the perfect size to fit the treads in later. 

The second challenge was where the bottom of the steps would sit was out of level. We measured both sides of where the steps would sit using our laser level to determine the difference in height from the left to the right side of the steps as this will affect the length of the stingers. It would also affect the steps for level across the steps.

We cut the longest side first then cut the shorter side slightly longer than we measured. We fitted the steps and checked the treads for level. We needed to cut a little more off to where our line was marked. We made the adjustments, refitted the steps, and checked again for level this time they were perfect! We continued with fixing the steps in place.  

The client was very happy with the result, with improved access and blending with the existing area, they looked great.
